The Périgueux gras market: a Périgord tradition

For more than 40 years, the town of Périgueux has hosted the “marché au gras” on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, a must for all lovers of duck and the Périgord region. From November to March, you will find everything you need for a successful festive meal! Foies gras, duck breasts, confits… The market brings together producers from the four corners of the department to discover, taste and sell high quality local products. The truffle market

Every year, every Saturday morning from December to mid-February, the Maison du Pâtissier, place Saint-Louis, houses the truffle market controlled from Périgueux. What is a controlled truffle market? First of all, it is the guarantee of buying quality truffles. In fact, each truffle is checked, weighed and classified by species and quality by an approved inspector. Only species Tuber Melanosporum et Tuber Brumale are accepted for sale in winter. You will have understood, to find the rare pearl, you have to look for it on the stalls of this typical Dordogne market!
